The annual FUNdraising pickleball tournament is typically held in August over the Rubber Ducky weekend. There are three brackets: Men’s Doubles (Saturday), Women’s Doubles (Saturday), and Mixed Doubles (Sunday). All funds raised are used to support the development of the proposed indoor Community Recreation Center.

Many volunteers are needed on the days of the tournament to help with:

  • setup and teardown of tables, tents, chairs, score boards, and bracket boards
  • court set up and prep,
  • player registration check in,
  • stock and maintain the refreshment table,
  • two score keepers for each court who also monitor the kitchen line faults,
  • a court monitor for each court,
  • line judges for the championship matches.

As a volunteer, you can choose the hours you want to help.  If you are also playing in the tournament, you can volunteer before, after, or during the tournament when not scheduled to play.  We maintain a schedule of volunteers for each main role, so you can sign up to help for an hour, two, all day, or whatever works for you on either day or both days!   We are completely flexible.  This is a fun tournament for a good cause, it is a great way to meet fellow pickleball players, and you get to watch some really awesome pickleball play!

Tournament planning is usually done by a group of volunteers familiar with pickleball.  An EMCEE and Tournament director run the tournament; they are also volunteers. They coordinate the prizes, obtain tournament balls, set the tournament schedule, create the brackets, develop rules/guidelines for both the play and the various volunteer roles, develop and distribute marketing and advertising materials to recruit players/teams, etc. For more information please contact Sylvia Schonauer-Kalchik through our office at 231-350-8835.

On Fridays, volunteers help with receiving donations as well as handling the sales of items.

If interested in providing help with picking up merchandise or any questions pertaining to the Yard Sale activities, please contact Bob Rodriguez through our office at 231-350-8835.

Volunteers are needed year round to support the set up and tear down of the Bingo activity on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.

Set up usually happens the evening before or the morning of Bingo night and takes less than an hour – many hands make light work!

During the Bingo evening, volunteers also help with room monitoring and ticket sales.

Refer to our Calendar of events for specific dates.

Contact Guy Dewitt through our office at 231-350-8835 for support or questions.

Volunteers help with weeding and general maintenance including mulching, trimming of bushes, and flower beds. This maintenance usually takes a couple of hours periodically, throughout spring into fall. Volunteers also help with pickleball court upkeep, occasional small building repairs and annual maintenance activities.

For specifics and general questions, please contact our office at 231-350-8835.

Volunteers are needed to help with the refreshments which are provided during the post parade ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day.

Volunteers stage the tables and refreshments the morning of the parade, assist in serving refreshments after the parade, followed by cleanup.  Typically this takes 4-5 hours on the day of the event.

If you love to bake, volunteers also supply the refreshments!

The Rubber Ducky Parade is held in August. Volunteers are needed to help build the Rubber Ducky Parade float and to participate in the Rubber Ducky Parade. Volunteers are typically needed for a few hours for 3-4 days, during planning, building our entry, and then walking in the parade.

This is a fun way to volunteer and learn about all that ASI Community has to offer. Kids are welcome to join the parade walk!

2025 Rubber Ducky Volunteers

The CRC team needs volunteers from time to time to help with community engagement events doing things like handing out flyers, brochures, and greeting people.

The best way to learn about what is needed is join the CRC support group to get updates on current status and needs. It is entirely confidential and you can opt out at anytime.

We need people who enjoy putt’n on a party!!! The programming committee is busy planning activities and events and would love some help and input from YOU! Do you have ideas of what would make for a fun activity? Do you like to help plan parties? Are you interested in being the host of an activity? If social events are your thing then we want you!

Volunteers can join the committee, host an event, help with room set up and tear down.  Each event is unique and the time required will be different for each event.  We anticipate 1-2.5 hours on the day of the event and perhaps a few hours prior to the event for planning.
