Senator Damoose Meeting at ASI Community

The ASI Community Recreation Center (CRC) project continues to gain momentum with strong local and legislative support. State Senator John Damoose and State Representatives John Roth and Ken Borton met with CRC team members in Lansing on February 18 following submission of a state budget appropriation request seeking $2.14 million toward the project’s $2.38 million capital cost. The team is also engaging members of the Northern Legislative Caucus to build regional support for funding.

Locally, the Village of Bellaire Council and the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce continue to actively support the project through letters of support and legislative outreach. Community outreach will continue with a Business After Hours presentation on April 16, and a public call to action encouraging residents to contact lawmakers. If funding is secured, the Community Recreation Center is expected to open in 2028.
